Gordon bags Team GB Selection

Once again one of our triathlete members has been in action.  Gordon Ballantyne moved up an age group this year into the  Under 15s and had to double the distance into the bargain.  Un-phased though he has recently competed at the UK National Triathle Championships at Lewiston School in Devon.

This event is a pathway to modern pentathlon and consists of continuous shoot, swim and  run.  Gordon had a great swim and run performance but his shooting deserves particular mention, only missing two shots out of 20!   The top five athletes at the event are eligible for Team GB selection and Gordon secured his selection with a fourth place finish in his age group.

He will now compete for Team GB at the European Championships in Barcelona later in the year and at the World Championships which are being held in Weiden in Germany on 25th-29th August.

Gordon has also secured selection for the UK talent pathway  programme which involves travelling to Bath once a month where he trains with the Olympic coaches.

A fantastic achievement and what a great opportunity to  compete abroad for your country.  We wish you every success Gordon in Spain and Germany!
