Barracudas pushing the boat out for Cash for Kids Lancashire
As a community based sports club run by volunteers, fundraising is always an important activity in order to keep our sport affordable and available for those who want to take part. We use funds to keep member fees down, to support the purchase of key pieces of pool equipment and importantly to support the cost of training our poolside volunteers who are all SwimEngland qualified.
Our members have been doing an amazing job over recent weeks organising activities to raise funds for the RockFM Cash for Kids campaign and swimmers, parents and local businesses have been incredibly supportive. All monies donated come to the club but the club with the highest total also stands to win an amazing £3,000 so there is a lot to play for. Here’s just a few of the initiatives that have been on the go:
KrispyKreme Doughnut sale – a great treat after a tough training session and a very popular choice with 200 doughnuts purchased raising over £100. We’ve got some hungry swimmers out there!
Sporting Sweepstakes have also been popular with some cards selling out within the day. A great effort Barracudas!
The Cartoon Sweepstakes have also proved popular with several cards completed and some wonderful prizes donated by a club member.
Sales of our first ever club calendar are going down well too. They make great Christmas gifts and contain some fantastic photos taken by our swimmers during lockdown. We’ve got some very talented swimmers out there. Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses/schools profits from every sale will contribute to Cash4Kids and thanks to those members who are making the effort to sell the calendars out in the community – your support is very much appreciated.
This has been a very popular activity with our small pool swimmers. We handed out over 75 boxes of raisins and once they have been consumed the swimmers are returning the boxes with their donations so we wait to see how much we have ‘raised’. Fantastic effort, well done everyone.
With the biggest internal event on the club calendar taking place next month we have also used our Club Championships as an opportunity to attract local businesses to sponsor events whilst promoting Cash for Kids at the same time. We’ve had some amazing responses – here are one or two!
