Club working hard to support Cash for Kids
Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across the UK. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. They believe that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full and they work with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives.
Each year they run a series of campaigns to raise awareness and funds and one such campaign is the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge. We at Leyland Barracudas are proud to once again be associated with the campaign and delighted to be selected as a finalist in this year’s RockFM campaign.
Our volunteers are working hard to come up with imaginative ways to generate funds – we are inviting members to donate to sponsor a race at our annual championship gala; selling calendars created by our swimmers as part of a Smartphone Photography competition; organising a “Fund Raisin” challenge for our small pool swimmers; and running a sporting sweepstake and KrispyKreme events as well as encouraging friends and family to donate to such a worthy cause. These are just a few of the initiatives that are ongoing.
With the clock ticking we have until 4 November to raise funds and as one of the selected finalists all monies raised will be granted back to our club to help us continue to provide sporting opportunities to our young members. We are also in with a chance of winning bonus prizes for the best PR exposure and creative fundraising ideas. And that’s not all, the finalist raising the most funds will also stand to win a £3,000 prize so there is lots to play for. Whatever the outcome we are proud to have the opportunity to support the campaign whilst also having the opportunity to generate funds for our club which will go a long way to helping us provide much needed equipment.
