Keeping our fingers crossed!
The Club has just submitted two applications for the annual Swim England North West recognition awards which will be decided at the SENW Annual Council meeting on Saturday, 4 September and regional winners will then be put forward for the Swim England National Awards which will be announced in a virtual live ceremony on Saturday, 9 October.
We have submitted nominations for the Inspirational Volunteer Award and the Engagement Innovation Award.
Our nomination for the Inspirational Volunteer Award is in respect of Cliff Taylor who, at 71 years young has gone from swim grandparent chauffeuring his grand-daughter to and from sessions to senior volunteer looking after our pre-competition swimmers. He volunteers 14 hours each week teaching in our small pool and is now Level 2 qualified. He thoroughly enjoys every session and the swimmers fondly refer to him as Coach Cliff.
Our second nomination has been for a group of volunteers who formed our Rapid Response Team at the start of the pandemic. They swiftly got to work embracing new technologies to help and throughout the pandemic have found numerous different ways to keep engaged with swimmers, parents and volunteers. Whether it was virtual challenges, bingo or quiz nights, or online clinics and competitions – they have used their imagination and maintained a vibrant membership.
We are now keeping our fingers crossed for the 9th October.
