Barracuda gets GB selection

One of our swimmers, Gordon Ballantyne, has been selected to represent GB at the U17 European Pentathlon championships which are being held in Ankara, Turkey at the start of July. Having been involved with Pentathlon GB at the feeder sport level for 4 years, Gordon was delighted to be selected for the full pentathlon.

The competition format will see Gordon compete in fencing, 200m freestyle swimming, obstacle course racing (OCR) followed by a combined run and laser pistol shoot. Gordon’s weekly dedication means that over and above the 8 hours of swimming at Leyland he also fences for 5 hours, does OCR training for 2 hours, runs 30 miles and shoots for 2 hours per week. This should become much easier when he attends Millfield School, in September, as they will integrate the training with his studies. Needless to say, parents are super proud of this achievement and are grateful of the support his coaches and friends provide. Good Luck Gordon!
