Match Report – Micro ‘B’ Team

22nd May 2022 – Burnley BOBCATS, Padiham Leisure Centre

Sunday 22nd May saw the B team travel to Padiham Leisure Centre for their second match.  It was a late afternoon (5.30) start with two teams from Liverpool unable to make the fixture.  Chorley Marlins were invited as a third team to enable some additional competition although they were not able to accrue points in this match.  This meant it was just Bobcats and Leyland fighting it out for the points.

We were lucky enough to have the use of lane 5 to allow extra swimmers to attend which meant everyone got at least 3 swims.

Although some spectators may have had one eye on the football scores with it being the last day of the season  it was hard to take your eyes off our swimmers who were once again exceptional.

It was wonderful seeing the swimmers confidence grow and the great camaraderie amongst the team.   Head Coach Gill was busy fist pumping our swimmers in lane 3 who took maximum points by finishing ahead of Bobcats in 30 out of the 47 events.  Even taking Chorley A team swimmers into account Leyland still finished 1st in 19 events.

The strength and depth in our club was even more apparent with our fantastic lane 5 swimmers who regularly finished ahead of  A team opposition from Burnley and Chorley.  Our girls team even managed 1st and 2nd place in an impressive 8 events (there were even a couple of very close Leyland vs Leyland finishes!)..

Although the official points total is yet to be announced it was another Leyland win and we are confident that we will have picked up a fantastic points total.

Well done swimmers – another brilliant performance!
