YAVs hard work pays off
Another group of our Young Aquatic Volunteers have gone on to complete the Swim England North West programme and have received their certificates. Here’s what they had to say ……

I am delighted to have completed my Young Aquatic Volunteer Award course. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Gill on poolside and learning how to become a good teacher and be able to help swimmers improve. I have also enjoyed working with Carole Jepson behind the scenes, she has really helped with background knowledge needed in order to complete the course. Overall the course has really helped me to improve my confidence not only with swimming but also with everyday life. I can’t wait to carry on helping out on poolside.”

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity of achieving the Swim England Young Volunteer Award. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all the coaches on poolside, and Carole has been a great help to me in completing all of the activities in the YAV booklet. The programme has given me a number of skills and experiences that will benefit me in other areas. I have enjoyed coaching the younger swimmers, and it has been really good to see their improvement.”

I enjoyed completing the YAV qualification and in particular gaining practical experience on poolside and being able to gain a Timekeeper qualification.”
