Barracudas Cash for Kids finalist
We have been delighted to once again be selected as a finalist in RockFMs Cash for Kids sports challenge. In a sport that requires the use of an expensive facility we rely on fundraising to top up member fees and cover costs. Operating across four local pools (Leyland, Bamber Bridge, Penwortham and Tarleton) we provide competitive swim training and events to our 240+ members for 48 weeks of the year. Swimming is a technically demanding sport and requires members to be actively engaged from between 3-16 hours each week. This is a lot of water time and we spend in excess of £75k on pool hire alone. Our club is heavily dependent upon volunteers and our poolside volunteers in particular have to undergo essential child safeguarding training and Swim England teacher training and our fundraising enables us to support this. Fundraising also ensures we keep our sport as affordable as possible to our members and don’t make it financially elite.
However, in normal times a good proportion of our fundraising has been centred around club events and activities but with little training, no spectators and no events for the last 12 months or so it has been more challenging than usual to raise funds. So for us this is a great opportunity to organise events with our members and also reach out to the community at large so that we can continue to provide affordable and accessible competitive swimming opportunities in the heart of the community.
As a finalist we have until 4 November to generate as much funds as possible. The finalist club generating the most funds also stands to win a £3,000 top prize which is something we would love to achieve, so the race is on. If you would like to donate to our cause and help us keep afloat please follow this link to donate on our RockFM Cash for Kids donation page.
Thank you in anticipation.
