Great Ocean Road Challenge – Week 4

Well I’m disappointed we didn’t get snow, I really wanted to build a Barracuda snow man!

But what’s been happening this week with the challenge?  Well Freya Robinson must be completely frazzled and running to hide at the mere mention of “where’s your lead” because she’s clocked up a fantastic 97.6kms this week sneaking this week’s “Top Dog” award away from Bailey Blundell.  Looking at the combined totals across the four weeks for our four legged friends here’s the state of the pack –

As for the humans well here’s where our teams are.  Teams Pedley & McKenna, Linley and Townshend, Wilson, Myers & Taylor have all now completed three legs with over 6000kms between them over the last four weeks.  That’s got to be better that sitting on the couch!

Our teams completing two legs are Roberts, Lackie & Hepplestone, Ascroft and Adam, Taylor & Elliott with over 4000kms between them.

Our teams completing the one leg distance this week were teams Dutton, Tindall and Fitchie, Lackie & Stott.  On target to finish this next week is Team Lawton-Jimenez.

There have been some great individual performances this week too.  Lisa Robinson accompanied Freya on the majority of her kilometres to rack up 92.6kms – how she had the energy left to run as well is beyond me! (That’s Lisa not the dog!)  Rufus also got on the bike this week too, clocking up 19kms – well done Rufus.  The Tindalls have been busy walking and running this week to tot up a family total of 168kms for the week.  Once again Vanessa Townshend has been ‘Queen of the Road’ with over 96kms on her bike.   Yasmin Elliott and Matthew Johnson also made the Under 18’s leaderboard for kilometres covered on their bikes, making great contributions to their team totals.  Tracy Pedley has been really working hard with just shy of 70kms walking, 3km run and 241kms on the turbo bike.  Tracy and Andrea McKenna achieved over 460kms on the turbo bikes between them, and were ably supported by Mike and Eve to take the team over the finish line for three complete legs – well done all!  Gary Dutton has had the bit between his teeth this week in the Dutton household with just shy of 84kms walking.  I think he also did some walking on the spot every time Judith stopped to talk to someone!  Teams Leech and Williams also upped their distance this week whilst trying to juggle everything else.   Ashley, Maddie, Lee, Lottie and Daniel can’t wait to get back in the pool though.  The Linley’s have been giving that turbo some stick again this week with 368kms between them – I think they’re generating electricity with it!  It’s great to see Loretta Myers clocking up the distance too (157kms) – she’s even been on the bike giving Parbold Hill a bit of stick this week too – nice one, Loretta.  Jack Hepplestone, Grace Lackie and Tom and Ethan Roberts have also been making consistent contributions each week to their team’s total helping to make sure the team completed two full legs of the route this week.  Team Blundell are on their third leg now with every member of the family increasing their distance this week. Rachel topped the family tree with 113kms in total but Adrian, Ella and Fraser also improved on their weekly totals – same again this week and you could make the three laps! Team Ascroft are also within a sniff of completing a full three laps – think you need to get your Mum on the turbo Mia and Neve to help you across the line. I’ve got my money on them all to complete three legs by this week-end – hope you make it guys!

Here’s the leader board

As a club we’ve totalled 18,357kms so far and with a last push we should be able to reach 24,000kms which would be over halfway around the world.

DIARY DATE – Don’t forget we’ve got the Zoom final results night which may need to be moved to Saturday 20th February but we’ll post details via SwimManager email in the next few days.
