A cracker of a weekend in Leeds

What a weekend! 56 Barracudas entered a staggering 418 events in the weekend-long annual Christmas Cracker meet. Hosted by City of Leeds Swim Club at the John Charles Centre of Sport. Both Saturday and Sunday started with an 8am warm-up, which meant early mornings for parents too! There were on the spot prizes, conga lines around the pool and plenty of festive music, including Gill dancing to Cher!
For many of the younger swimmers, this was their first chance to swim in a 50m pool, let alone compete in it. There were 21 other clubs at the meet and in some of the female events there was close to 200 swimmers.
Swimmers were entered into seeded heats, Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies were awarded for the fastest three swimmers per age and event.
A huge thank you to all parents/volunteers who spent their weekend poolside either marshalling, judging or time-keeping.
